Lindsay & Jay // A Green Bay Wedding Video

August 30, 2011

Lindsay and Jay were together even before they knew one another. Their respective mothers were pregnant with them at the same time, in the same hospital. Pretty wild. Green Bay, Wisconsin, isn’t the largest city but it does have the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers more than one high school and as we all know the prospect of dating someone from a rival school is pretty outrageous when you’re a teenager. So despite the best efforts from their families Lindsay and Jay never connected until an internship after their first year in college. Together from birth but they don’t meet until they go away to school. The fact that they ended up married is testament either to fate or the matchmaking savvy of Jay’s grandfather. I like to think it’s the later.

Diana & Mike // A Salvage One Wedding Video

August 17, 2011

Diana and Mike. I could write a thousand words about what makes them fantastic but I doubt I could articulate it as well as the first 15 seconds of their film. On occasion there are moments during the wedding day that perfectly encapsulate the spirit of the couple. The beginning of Diana’s vows were one such moment. Not only is what she said so quintessentially Diana, but Mike’s reaction is equally illustrative of who he is. They met in improv so to begin their life as a married couple with a joke is perfect, and Mike’s measured, knowing laugh speaks to a deep understanding of — and sincere love for — Diana. I mean, how can you not love a girl who opens with a quote from Dr. Dre? We should all be so lucky.

One more thing. Mike: One week. It takes one week. Unless the food is really good, then it takes ten days.

Keila & Dan // Of Soccer Balls and Votive Candles

June 27, 2011

Keila is soccer and dude. Dan is votive candles and data. They are equal parts sincere and hilarious, each different from the other but together an amazing match.

Weddings are always a reflection of the couple, but this was a wedding where even the smallest detail was motivated by something of importance to them. Or as Dan would put it, everything was deliberate. From Dan’s cufflinks to his tie, Keila’s necklace to her hair and makeup, quite literally everything had a story. Now here’s theirs.

Shoutouts: Ryan Thurlwell, who in addition to being a handsome groomsman also designed Keila and Dan’s wedding invitation and save the date, from which the graphics in the video are adapted. Olivia Leigh did the photography. Kate from Toast and Jam rocked the tunes. Salvage One hosted the reception and were gracious enough to let us film the interview there.

Keila & Dan // New York Times

June 6, 2011

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of shooting Keila and Dan’s wedding. I’ll write at length about them when I post their film, but for now I just wanted to share one incredibly awesome moment from their day.

The back story:

From the time they were engaged Dan had wanted to see if he and Keila could be featured in the Vows section of the New York Times. He figured they didn’t have much of a chance. Still, what would it hurt to apply? So he did. A couple weeks ago the Times told him they would be running their wedding announcement in the Sunday, June 5th, edition of the paper.

So yesterday morning, while Keila was having her makeup done, her father was sitting nearby reading the New York Times, as fathers often do on Sunday mornings. Flipping through the paper he eventually arrived at the Style section, where the first wedding announcement in the paper was for his daughter. Quiet and unassuming, you never would have known he was reading about his daughter’s wedding in our national paper of record, but there it was, and there they were, father and daughter, sharing a moment few get to experience.

Dan and Keila commissioned a Love Story. As part of that project we got together a couple months ago for an interview that will be woven into the story of their wedding. Along with their wedding announcement the Times asked if they could provide a video where they explained how they met. It just so happens they could…

Tiffany & Jeff // Save The Date

February 16, 2011

Video save the dates are becoming increasingly more popular these days as brides look for unique ways to let the world know they’re getting married. Everyone else does a card, which is nice and all, but instead of sending cards to three hundred guests why not point them at a video instead? Makes sense to me!

So Tiffany and Jeff are getting hitched this summer on a Christmas tree farm. Their wedding has a vintage flare with a good dose of fun, which I tried to capture here in their video save the date. Enjoy!
